Valuing rest
It’s tough to jumpstart a business and to keep it running. Amid the tough economy and stiff competition, I have to be on my toes to keep profit coming in. Unlike when I was a chef in a restaurant, work piles up and business concerns keep on coming in. A lot of times, I still have to work at home to settle business issues that cannot wait until the next day. I don’t think that this will change in a long time. I would have to work for extra hours, and talk to customers and business partners even during inconvenient hours.
But of course, just like any other being in this planet, I need rest. This does not only include sleeping, but also spending time alone or with family and friends. Even before I started the pastry business, I decided to prioritize my time wisely. In other words, I wanted to run my business properly without neglecting rest and personal time.
RingCentral Online has helped me manage my time better. Because I only give out my RingCentral number to business contacts, I can easily identify calls I receive in my cell phone and in my home phone. Through caller ID, I can see if the call is forwarded by my RingCentral number. If I see that the call is highly important or urgent, I can pick it up. Otherwise, I can just send it to voicemail and attend to it in a more convenient time. This way, I can enjoy my rest without worrying about missed important calls.
Callers would never get a busy tone when they call my RingCentral number. Depending on the rules that I set, calls can be directed to voicemail or to any number that I am currently using. If I set the call forwarding to ring my home phone, then I would see immediately the caller ID of whoever is calling me. I could then choose to answer the call or direct it to voicemail.
This feature lets me keep my private life separate from my business life without worrying of neglecting one or the other.
